No, that's not the number of reality shows currently on the networks.   And it's not the number of times football analysts have compared Aaron Rodgers to Brett Favre since the start of the season.  It's actually the number of rally towels that the guys at Thirsty Frog, the manufacturing arm of BWM Global, produced during the baseball season.   We congratulate the Philadelphia Phillies on winning the World Series and we also want to give a shout out to the guys that work the floor at Thirsty Frog.   Another season came to an end with many sleepless hours of around-the-clock work without any missed deadlines.
But we, of course, can't rest on our laurels.  We think we can print much more than that next year.  We're going to try and break our own record and get even more out the door.   We just haven't told the guys at Thirsty Frog yet.

Give 'em their monies worth

It's no secret that many industries are struggling in the current economy.  With consumers tightening their belts, often times the first things to get cut out of a household budget are entertainment expenses.

According to USA TODAY, a division of Gannett Co., Inc, ticket prices for the NFL, MLB and NHL have all risen this year as well as what is called the "Fan Cost Index (FCI)." The FCI is the total cost that a family of four will spend to attend a game.

League        Ticket Price Increase        FCI Increase
NFL              7.9% ↑                            7.1% ↑
MLB             10.1% ↑                           7.9% ↑
NHL             5.1% ↑                             5.5% ↑

With overall costs going up, make sure that people leave the game with something great to talk about whether their team won or lost.  Make the entire experience from start to finish great.  From ticket collectors to hot dog vendors, from promotional items to game books give the consumers the experience that will make them come back time after time.  Take a critical eye to your operations and your promotions and make sure you are delivering on your brand.

If you give 'em their monies worth, you'll be rewarded when the economy is back on an upswing and you'll have gained loyal fans for life.

Festivus for the rest of us

Take a bunch of advertising folks, mix in a love of Seinfeld, toss in a team-bonding day and what do you have?  You've got Imaginasium's annual company outing, lovingly dubbed "Festivus."  Festivus started nine years ago when a few co-workers jumped in a mini-van for a day out of the office and has evolved into a major bonding day full of surprises and fun.  The advertising and marketing agency out of Green Bay, Wisconsin annually boards a bus early in the morning and takes off for a day full of adventure, learning and more than its share of mischief.

We enjoyed the opportunity to outfit the gang in their Festivus 9.0 t-shirts.  We just hope next year they'll invite us along for the feats of strength and the airing of grievances.

A good man is hard to find

Well, they aren't so hard to find as long as you know where to look.  If your advertising and marketing efforts involve targeting males, especially the coveted male age 18-34, make sure you're looking where they are.

If a large portion of your advertising dollars are still going into TV, you might want to think about reallocating some funds to the Web.  According to a study conducted by Hall & Partners for Break Media, nearly three-quarters of U.S. male Internet users were online for more than 10 hours a week for the months of April - June 2008.  Nearly 7 out of 10 respondents said they couldn't live without the Internet, with only 31% saying the same for television.
